Are you in New York this week? The Tour is in town…

Chess and art at NADA in New York

Play Magnus Group, the organiser of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, will be in the Big Apple this week to take part in New York Art Week.

PMG has partnered with New York’s Critical Path Method Gallery to bring a series of chess events taking place over two days at the art fair NADA – and you can get involved.

“I have come to the personal conclusion that while all artists are not chess players, all chess players are artists”

Marcel Duchamp

Starting at 4.30pm on Thursday, May 5, PMG will hold a 24-player blitz chess tournament for NYC public school kids from the “Chess in the Schools” program.

Players taking part in the event will receive an NFT trophy made by the team at #ChessChamps.

Then at 11am on Sunday, May 8, Grandmaster Pascal Charbonneau, a two-time Canadian Champion, and International Master Dmitri Shneider, PMG’s Chief Financial Officer, will take on visitors to the fair in a series of simultaneous matches.

Both events will take place at Pier 36, 299 South Street, NYC, NY 10002. They will be emceed by the artist Peter LaBier, who will be on hand both days to engage with the players and the audience.

The events are presented with Critical Path Method and Play Magnus Group.
