New to the Tour?
The newly-revamped 2022 Tour is ready to go. The season starts on March 31 and runs until January. Here are the key details:
Players compete over five tournaments for a $100,000 prize pot, the title of MPL Indian Chess Champion and the winner of each event scoops a golden ticket to the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour to mix it with the world elite.
Starting March 31, four tournaments will be held taking the players through to the overall Final between January 4 and 7. Each event will feature 16 top-ranked Indian Grandmasters. Each tournament will be a round-robin (all-play-all) event, played over 4 days. Players earn 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw (each) and 0 points for a loss. Tiebreaks if points are tied. The Final will be a knockout to determine the 2022 MPL Indian Chess Champion.
All games will be played on the chess24 platform and coverage with commentary will be available on both chess24.com and MPL plus their associated channels.
