PLEASE BE ASURED, THAT EVERY RUDE WORD STATED IN THIS THRED IS NOT MY STYLE OF COMMUNICATION! QUITE THE OPPOSITE IS FACT!
I think (almost) everybody will agree that you should never, never ever use any word in a chat or in a forum post, which can be perceived from any receiver as personal insult, verbal attack, erratic behavior or the like.
But we are all human beings and therefore sometimes phrases like „oh s*****t“ or even tougher ones flow over our tongues. Occasionally. Unintentionally. With levity.
The moderators do a hard job to keep things clean in this context. A big thank you!
But also the C24-machine has some build-in features related to this topic:
The title image shows the result of some tests I did within Private Messaging.
Sidenote: Please excuse the bad quality of photo. I didn‘t want to and even cannot place the text (technically) unveiled in the body of this thred: First because it is not my prefered communication style at all, but secondly: I definitely would have been banned from the forum for a life time.
As some of us might already have experience, there are words or phrases which are automatically replaced be the system the moment you press >>post<< button.
So my testing was about:
Which words I know are replaced?
Is the replacement fixed or do they alternate?
Do replacements work the same way if a word was used multiple times?
Does the replacement covers English only?
What happens, if a replacement-term is stated (-> back to bad?!)
The O(riginal) Posts - for obvious reasons reconstructed - and their T(ranslation/replacement) can be found in the title image. Some Comments were placed in (#brackets#).
Now, you can ask „What a freaky guy I am“.
You might complain that i.e. bad DE-words i are not corrected, so German is discriminated compared to English. At least the system is not error-free or completely setup.
You might make a joke out of it, (ab)using the systems programming for jokes reasons.
But I think, there is just one and most important question:
Isn‘t the programming a reductio ad absurdum?
What I mean is:
Why shouldn‘t a „bad author“ make his misformed „good breeding“ public?
He‘ll just do it once!
If you don‘t know/see the real words used and you don‘t even have a clue what the replacement originally was: How can you act against it (profoundly) or even just complain?
Everybody is laughing about the replacement - so it must have been a joke - doesn‘t it?
So I like to summarize and start the discussion as follows:
1st: Thanks to the moderators and their work to keep communication on a neutral/good level!
2nd: Don‘t you all agree that it is up to ourselves to have a friendly athmosphere here on C24?
3rd: Do we really need - or worse: need to rely on - this (error-prone) system?
Do we need a C24-Leviathan?
Thanks for sharing your opinions and thoughts
