Ragger vs. Mamedyarov

Mamedyarov, Shakhriyar vs. Ragger, Markus

Austrian #1 Markus Ragger and Azerbaijan's Shakhriyar Mamedyarov play a six-game match in parallel to the bi-annual Vienna Open, August 17-22. For Ragger it's a chance to test his mettle in match play against one of the world elite. Mamedyarov hopes the match will serve as a good warm-up for the upcoming FIDE World Cup in his country's capital Baku next month. The match is a showcase event on stage in the spectacular Vienna City Hall, amid hundreds of amateurs participating in the Open section. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 60 minutes for the rest of the game, plus an additional 30 seconds per move starting from move one. Official site: www.vienna-chess-open.at
