Chess Olympiad - Open section

From August 1 to 14, one of the biggest sporting events in the world takes place in Tromsø, Norway. The 41st Chess Olympiad is the most important event on the chess calendar, next to the World Championship. The tournament takes place over two weeks and involves 2200 players from 170 national federations. The current champions are Armenia in the Open section and Russia among the Women's teams. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves and 30 minutes until the end of the game, with 30 seconds additional time per move, starting from move one, per player.
