Moscow Open

The Moscow Open is the largest European chess event, with over 1,500 players competing from 31 January to 8 February. The 9-round A tournament is an almost 250-player open featuring Nepomniachtchi, Vallejo and Lysyj. The B tournament is a women’s open topped by World U20 Champion Goryachkina, while there are also 10-player student round-robins with Dubov and Kashlinskaya top seeds. Games start at 16:00 each day (14:00 CET). Players have 90 minutes for 40 moves and then 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30 second increment from move 1. The Russian State Social University and Moscow Chess Federation sponsor the tournament, with a total prize fund of 4,000,000 roubles (about $60,000). Official website
