French University Chess Championship 2016

The French University Chess Championship 2016 takes place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th January in Strasbourg - INSA ("Institut National des Sciences Appliquées"). It is organised by the French University Sports Federation & Regional Committee, Alsace & Bas-Rhin Chess League and INSA. The format is a 9-round rapid tournament featuring more than 60 students representing their University. The event awards the titles of university champion both individually and by team and is a qualifying event for the European University Chess Championship. The top players are IM Quentin Loiseau, IM Bilel Bellahcene, FM Pierre Villegas, WIM Natacha Benmesbah, WFM Mathilde Choisy. Players receive 15 minutes plus 5 seconds per move for the entire game.
