FIDE Women's World Championship
The Women's World Championship, held from March 17 to April 7 in Sochi, Russia, features 64 players in a series of knockout matches. The early rounds are two games each, plus a tiebreak if necessary. The final is a match of four games, plus a possible tiebreak, and the winner will be declared Women's World Champion. The prize fund is USD $450,000 with the winner taking home $60,000. Current World Champion Hou Yifan, the winner of the Grand Prix, will face the knockout winner in the second half of 2015 for a World Championship title match.
Players receive 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with a 30 seconds per move from move one. The tiebreaks consist of two rapid games (25 min + 10 sec increment), then if necessary, two additional 10 + 10 games, two blitz games (5 + 3) and finally, if the tie persists, a single "Armageddon" game
