FIDE Grand Prix - Khanty-Mansiysk
Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, hosts the fourth and final tournament in the 2014-2015 FIDE Grand Prix series, part of the 2016 World Championship cycle. The tournament is a 12-player, single round-robin format. Grand Prix points are allocated according to each player's standing in the tournament: 170 Grand Prix points for first place, 140 for second place, 110 for third place, and then from 90 down to 10 points for the remaining places in increments of 10. In case of a tie, Grand Prix points are shared evenly by the tied players.
The previous stage took place in Tblisi in February. Evgeny Tomashevsky
leads in overall Grand Prix standings (252 points), followed by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov
(235 points) and Fabiano Caruana
(230 points). The top two overall finishers qualify for the next World Championship Candidates Tournament. Players have 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves and then each player receives 15 additional minutes for the remainder of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 61 onwards.
