China vs. Russia

Wei, Yi vs. Svidler, Peter

Chinese and Russian men's and women's teams of five players are competing for the "Yin Zhou" Cup in a match held in Ningbo, China from 14-20 July. Each player faces each member of the opposing team once (the Scheveningen system). As China won the opening blitz matches (men: 26:24, women: 28:22) they will be declared winners if the classical matches are drawn. The total prize fund is $50,000, with $18,000 for the men's winners and $12,000 for the losers ($12,000/$8,000 for the women). The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30 second increment from move one. 18 July is a rest day.
