World Champion Magnus Carlsen will play 30 games of rapid and blitz chess against Ding Liren in one of 4 matches that make up the Champions Showdown at the Saint Louis Chess Club from 9-14 November 2017. The other 3 matches feature the top American players: Nakamura vs. Topalov, Caruana vs. Grischuk and So vs. Dominguez.
The games feature no delay or increment, so we can expect time trouble mayhem. Each player has 30 minutes for the first 4 games, 20 minutes for the next 6, 10 minutes for the next 8 and finally only 5 minutes for the last 12 games. For each match the winner gets $60,000, the loser $40,000. Official website: www.uschesschamps.com
