British Knockout Championship

Hawkins, Jonathan vs. Pert, Nicholas

The British Knockout Championship is a prestigious new event running alongside the London Chess Classic. It brings together eight of the top British players (Nigel Short had to withdraw at the last moment), who compete for £50,000 in prizes, with £20,000 going to the winner. The quarterfinals and semifinals consist of two classical games, while the final features six. If the scores are tied after the classical games then two rapid games will be played (15+5 before the final and 25+5 in the final). If the score is still tied then an Armageddon game will be played. White has six minutes to Black’s five and a draw counts as a win for Black. Official website: www.londonchessclassic.com
