The 19th Bavarian Chess Championship (Bayerische Schachmeisterschaft) International Open takes place in Bad Wiessee, Germany on the shores of Tegernsee Lake, from 31 October to 8 November. The 9-round Swiss tournament boasts almost 500 players with two dozen grandmasters, including German no. 1 Dieter Nisipeanu. Players have 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes for the remainder of the game, with a 30-second increment added from move 1.
