Men's Russian Cup Final

The Russian Cup is a year-long series of tournaments organised by the Russian Chess Federation. The knockout finals are being held in the Yugra Chess Academy in Khanty Mansiysk from December 5-12, and this year include Russia’s top young players, reigning Russian Champion Aleksandra Goryachkina and Vladislav Artemiev, who are both 17 years old. The men’s event features 16 players and four rounds, while there are eight players and three rounds in the women’s section. Each round consists of two classical games and then, if scores are tied, two rapid games (15+10) and finally an Armageddon game where White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black.
