David was a slower starter than others in his generation, only crossing the 2000 rating mark at the age of 13, but he's made up for it since. He's won the Spanish Championship 8 times in various age groups and all possible formats (classical, rapid and on the internet). He also took bronze at the U16 European Championship in Prague in 2012 and silver in the U18 World Championship in Al-Ain (UAE) in 2013.
He gained the International Master title in 2012, the Grand Master title in 2013 and breaking through the 2600 barrier is a very achievable goal for 2014.
Despite lacking experience against elite players he had some real highlights in 2013, including winning a 6-game match against Peruvian Grandmaster Julio Grande and later posting a great performance as first board for Virgen de Atocha in the Spanish Team Championship, where he beat David Navara.
David is a regular contributor to chess24's Spanish site and you can find him recommending openings as well as talking about the middlegame and training techniques.
