Seize your chance to bag a very special chessboard while viewing the Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge. When the quarterfinals begin on Saturday the Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge Chess Quiz also gets underway.
To celebrate the rich history of chess, the Lindores Abbey Preservation Society has compiled a list of chess questions on topics ranging from past World Champions to chess in culture, literature and film. The three winners of the quiz will receive a premium quality chessboard designed by 12th World Chess Champion Anatoly Karpov, complete with a certificate of authenticity.
The chess set is intended to embody some traits traditionally considered part of the Russian character: steadfastness, persistence and a will to win. An individual weight stabiliser was developed for each piece and the "Invincible" boards are made of only the highest quality wood.
The overall value is around 3,000 EUR, with the items generously donated by the Lindores Abbey Preservation Society.
The dates of the quiz are the 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th May. Each day, participants will have to find the correct answers to three questions, with the winners determined by their overall score on the four quiz days. In case of a tie, the first person to submit their answers will win the prize. On top of that, prizes also await the daily winners, including the new Magnus Chessable course.
The quiz will feature easy, medium and difficult questions. While correct answers to easy questions grant participants 1 point, difficult questions can range from 2 to 5 points, depending on the depth of the answer.
Participants have one hour to submit their answers. Be sure to tune into our broadcast, where the link will be made available.
