Shamkir Chess 2014 consists of two tournaments in memory of Vugar Gashimov, running from April 20th-30th.

The "A" tournament, sponsored by Synergy Group, a leading local investment company, has a prize fund of €100,000. Synergy Group aims to honor Vugar Gashimov and to support the development of chess in Azerbaijan.
Round 1 starts Sunday at 15:00 AZST (Azerbaijan Summer Time), 12:00 Noon CEST, 6:00 AM EDT. Here are the pairings:
The main event will be accompanied by a 10-player single round-robin "B" tournament featuring five Azerbaijan and five foreign players, with a prize fund of €30,000.
Round 1 "B" group pairings:
Both tournaments will be played at a classical time control with 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves, and then an additional 15 minutes for the remainder of the game, plus a 30 second increment per move from move 61 onwards.
No draws are allowed until move 40, except in the case of a threefold repetition.
