Q&A with Chess Legend Vasyl Ivanchuk

The one and only Vasyl Ivanchuk is one of the ten participants in the chess24 Legends of Chess that starts on Tuesday, and this Sunday we have an incredible treat in store – the chance to play Vasyl in Banter Blitz (he'd prefer 3+2 challenges) and then quiz him in a Questions and Answers session to follow. As a chess24 Premium member all you need to do is leave a question for Ivanchuk under this article and then tune into the show on Sunday 19th July from 18:00 CEST.

Vasyl Ivanchuk exploded onto the chess scene as a 19-year-old in 1989 when he won the Linares super-tournament and entered the Top 10. Garry Kasparov was missing back then, but two years later Ivanchuk won “the chess Wimbledon” again, this time defeating Garry in their individual game. If Ivanchuk didn’t dominate the next three decades quite as it seemed he might, his brilliance and eccentricity have delighted chess fans ever since.

We’re incredibly lucky, therefore, to have Vasyl here on chess24 this Sunday for two shows one after the other:

Sunday 19th July

The Banter Blitz is open to all to watch, while chess24 Premium members get the chance to challenge a true legend to a game (he prefers 3+2 challenges). A Q&A session follows, and if you're Premium you can post a question for Vasyl in the comments below!

If you’re not yet Premium now’s a great time to take the plunge as the voucher code CHESSLEGENDS gives 40% off. Go Premium here.

Vasyl Ivanchuk will first be playing Banter Blitz!
