German no. 2 Jan Gustafsson will be coaching the Dutch men's team at the upcoming Olympiad, but you don't need to be Anish Giri to get some opening tips from a world renowned expert. chess24 Premium Members can simply leave a question on any aspect of chess openings under this article, and Jan will respond in a series of shows over the coming weeks. Don't let your chance slip!
In case you missed Jan’s Opening Clinic 21, the questions were asked under this article, and then Jan responded in six roughly 1-hour shows. You can find them here, with time stamps to go straight to questions that interest you: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6
Since the last season of the show was launched Jan betrayed us all by leaving opening theory to take a look (Loek?) at the endgame as the sidekick of 8-time Dutch Champion Loek van Wely:
He's also been busy as captain of the Dutch Olympiad team, which seems to be taking preparations as seriously as the French...
Sopiko Guramishvili, who will be commentating on the Olympiad, stayed on topic, and provided a time and memory saving approach as White against the Caro-Kann, French, Pirc and sometimes even the Petroff. It involves exchange lines that have often been considered harmless, but when guys like Bobby Fischer and Magnus Carlsen are playing them you know there's definitely winning potential!
You can watch both those series and many more as a Premium Member - try it out for just $/€9.99 a month (or less per month if you take out a 1-year or longer membership) - and, of course, you also get to ask Jan that opening question! Please just one per person, so Jan will be able to get through them all.
The first show in Season 22 of Jan's Opening Clinic will go live at 17:00 CEST on Thursday 20th August.
