Jan's Opening Clinic 19: Part 4

Grandmaster Jan Gustafsson continues to suggest cures for the opening ailments chess24 Premium users brought up in Opening Clinic no. 19. In this instalment Jan suggests how to play the Catalan without too much memorisation ("I don’t like this word 'memorise', can we replace it with 'look up'?") and is even goaded into providing, "a dodgy sideline to play against 1.e4". If 1.e4 Nc6 2.Nf3 f5! 3.exf5 d5 now appears in a supertournament we'll known the top players have been tuning in!
