International Arena begins today — open to all FIDE titled players!

The International Arena qualifiers for the San Fermín Mundial start this week and take place in the new chess24 Playzone. The Arenas are tournaments where all the participants play at the same time and, after each game, will wait a maximum of 10 seconds to start the next one, giving priority to facing opponents who have the same score.

The San Fermín Mundial, known as "the smart party", will get its first qualified player this Sunday June 27th

Overview of the qualifiers

The final phase will be a closed Arena with 100 players, 40 of whom are qualified from previous tournaments, and another 60 invited by the organisers.

Each qualifying tournament will last 2 hours, with a 3 minutes + 2-second increment per move time control. The final phase will have the same format.

The prize pool for the Final Arena will be divided as follows:

  1. $500 USD + a spot in the San Fermín Mundial
  2. $400 USD
  3. $300 USD
  4. $200 USD
  5. $100 USD
