Aker BioMarine, a leading global biotech innovator, has signed a four-year agreement with the Play Magnus Group for LYSOVETA™ by Aker BioMarine to serve as the Official Learning Partner for the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. The announcement was made as the Opera Euro Rapid reaches its climax this Sunday with Magnus Carlsen and Wesley So battling it out in the final of the 3rd event on the $1.5 million tour.
Norwegian company Aker BioMarine is committed to improving human and planetary health and has recently made significant advances in understanding how essential fatty acids such as EPA and DHA, derived from Antarctic krill, can contribute to the healthy functioning of the brain. This research and development led to the launch of LYSOVETA, which unlocks new opportunities to further explore the potential of targeted delivery of EPA/DHA into the brain.
Andreas Thome, CEO of the Play Magnus Group, whose brands include chess24, Chessable, iChess, CoChess and the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, said:
Chess and learning are closely linked. Chess is also one of the most recognized ways to train the brain, and to preserve brain functions. We are looking forward to working with Aker BioMarine long-term to innovate learning through chess and LYSOVETA.
Matts Johansen, CEO of Aker BioMarine, said:
We know that LYSOVETA can play an important role in numerous aspects of brain health, and by partnering with the brilliant minds in the chess community, we can shine a light on the advancements within cognitive health.
The current season of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour runs from November 2020 to September 2021, with World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen and most of the world’s elite competing in a total of ten online tournaments over a full competitive season. The third tournament, the Opera Euro Rapid, finishes today with Magnus Carlsen facing Wesley So in the final.
All the action will be streamed live on Norway's TV2, Eurosport and in 9 languages and 12 streams right here on chess24 from 17:00 CET.
The partnership with LYSOVETA by Aker BioMarine comes in addition to the previously announced Tour partnerships with Meltwater, Skilling, Airthings, Opera and Julius Bär.
