Olympiad wrap-up: India snatch bronze

The 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø is over. The Chinese men and the Russian women made short work of securing their predicted golds, but that still left a lot to be decided. In a final session that was overshadowed by the tragic collapse of a player from the Seychelles (and an ensuing panic that saw many players flee for the exit), Hungary eventually took silver in the men’s section. The bronze medal was a tiebreak cliffhanger, with India sensationally edging out Russia and Azerbaijan after beating Uzbekistan 3.5:0.5.
