Paris Grand Chess Tour
The Paris Grand Chess Tour, held from June 9-12 in La Maison de la Chimie in Paris, France, is the inaugural leg of the prestigious 2016 Grand Chess Tour. Ten of the world's best chess players compete over four days for a total prize pool of $150,000. The Grand Chess Tour collectively boasts a prize fund in excess of $1 million, with events to follow in Brussels (June 17–20), Saint Louis (August 4–16) and London (December 8–19).
In Paris the first two days feature 9 rounds of rapid chess, with 25 minutes for all moves and a 10-second increment from move 1. A win is worth 2 points, with 1 point for a draw. The final two days see 18 rounds of blitz, with 5 minutes for all moves and a 2-second increment. Normal scoring of 1 point for a win and half a point for a draw applies.
