Hoogeveen Open | Final 4

The Hoogeveen Open is taking place as part of the 23rd Hoogeveen Chess Festival that runs from 19-26 October 2019 in the Hoogeveen Town Hall in the Netherlands. The 9-round open has a total prize fund of €9,000 with a €3,000 1st prize. After the 7th round, the top 4 qualifies for the semi-finals and finals to decide the top prizes of the Open tournament. In the semi-final and the final the highest players in the ranking after 7 rounds will have white. If a semi-final or final ends in a draw a two-game mini-match will be played at the rate of all the moves in 3 minutes with 2 seconds added on for each move from move 1. If this match is tied a new drawing of lots for colours will take place. The winner will be the first winner of a game. After each odd-numbered game the colours will be reversed. The remaining players of the Open group will play a regular 8th and 9th round. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. Official website: www.hoogeveenchess.nl
