103rd British Championship

The 2016 British Chess Championship is an 11-round Swiss tournament taking place in the Bournemouth Pavilion on the south coast of England from 23 July to 6 August. English no. 1 Michael Adams is the top seed and will try to win his 5th title. In case of a tie for first a rapid and blitz playoff will take place. The top prize is £5,000, with £1,500 for the English Champion and £1,000 for the British Women's Champion. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves then 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. Official website: www.britishchesschampionships.co.uk
