FIDE Women's World Cup
The 2021 FIDE Women's World Cup is a 103-player knockout taking place in Krasnaya Polyana, near Sochi, Russia from July 12 to August 3. The prize fund is almost $700k, with $50,000 for the winner, while the top three also qualify for the 2022 Women's Candidates Tournament. The top 25 players are seeded directly into Round 2.
Each match consists of two classical games where the players have 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment from move 1. If tied, a playoff will be held on the 3rd day. There are two 25+10 rapid games followed, if needed, by two 10+10 games, then two 5+3, and finally an Armageddon game, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black. No draw offers are allowed until after move 30. Official website: worldcup.fide.com
